Just 4 Kids

VB Parks & Recreation is an organization of local volunteers who assist with the planning and implementation of recreational assets for Van Buren County residents, and for visitors to the county.  Recently this group has been instrumental in the design and funding application for the outdoor stage and green area located on the former Burritt College campus.  Take the kids outside and enjoy the exercise benefits of the clean, safe parks here in Van Buren County.

UT Extension serves the citizens of Van Buren County with educational programs in the areas of Agriculture, Family and Consumer Sciences, Community Resource Development, and 4-H Youth Development. We are an outreach branch of the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture, providing research-based solutions and information to the citizens of Tennessee.

We provide 6 rodeos a year from May through October on the 4th Saturday of the month. We operate through donations and hard working volunteers to provide these fun filled days for families that wish to explore the rodeo life. We believe that all children deserve a chance at rodeo, and try to make sure there are classes for everyone. We believe in “yes, sir/mam” and respect for one another. We don’t believe in the word “quit” and we go by rules of no spittin’ , cussing nor fighting. Everyone is big enough to help, participate and have good clean family fun!

Typically, Head Start classrooms are smaller than state regulations require, usually fewer than 17 children. Most Head Start programs provide transportation to and from the classroom in an effort to reach children at greater risk.  For information about becoming a volunteer check out the Web page.                  [VB Head Start]
