Park rangers and staff members at Fall Creek Falls State Park are preparing for a fast approaching annual 15K race that brings runners from across the state for the final portion of the Tennessee State Parks Running Tour.
On March 3, 2018, Fall Creek Falls State Park will be hosting the finale of the TSP running tour. The 15K race will take participants through Fall Creek Falls, which offers some of the most beautiful sceneries that the Tennessee Park System has to offer.
The challenging course for this year’s Thaw 15K Run will start and finish at the Inn of Fall Creek Falls State Park. The running course will take circle around the gorge perimeter, Piney Creek Falls overlook, around the Fall Creek Falls overlook, across a wooden bridge, down bike trails, and up rolling hills. There are significant elevation changes on this course featuring a 1-mile 150-feet elevation climb at mile 5.
The course at Fall Creek Falls is one of the original four races of the running tour dating back to the early 1980s. At press time, there had already been 160 registered participants.
